Thanks for the feedback, Thibaut,

Yeah, we like that idea, and it makes sense. A reward for retaining, too!

It's another condition the players will need to become accustomed to, which may cause confusion initially, but once they are familiar with it, it will certainly work.

  • Building with a +1

  • Keeping midfielders off the first build-up

  • Dropping full-backs onto the first line of the build-up

  • Side connections

Sorry, just seen this Ross.

We haven't planned on it. We will see what footage we can get and either put a thread together or open a discussion.

Anything of particular interest to them?

Hi Nick,

We may change the title of this, as the practice is more aimed towards defensive organisation than transition. The transition is used to maintain the flow of the practice (enabling quick setup as teams change roles). You are right in that it is difficult for the defending team to recover, but it does create a habit of sprinting back.

The two yellow bibbed players are passive. This is to put the defensive and midfield units in game scenarios where central progression has been prevented, and play has been forced around. This is the purpose of the practice, in our opinion, how the defensive and midfield units defend when play has been forced wide. Obviously, we can't see or hear the actual technical coaching detail, but the practice provides this constant scenario.

Let us know if you have any further questions.
