GOALKEEPING | PLAYING OUT | PRACTICE 4

STRUCTUREArea sizes: Large 50x44 | Medium 44x40 | Small 38x36. Arrange the pitch as shown in the video. Place goals (or gates) as shown in the video.The practice consists of one (1) goalkeeper and five (5) outfield players. Split the teams into a team of two (2) attackers and three (3) defenders.The attacking team aim to score in the small goals but can only score in the final third.The defending team aim to score in the large goal.BALL 1 - The play starts with a defender passing the ball back to a teammate before returning to the goalkeeper.BALL 2 - The coach plays a pass to the attacking team. The attacking team must use the goalkeeper before they can score.BALL 3 - The coach serves the ball to the defending team.STRESSESEncourage the defending players to put pressure on the goalkeeper. Reduce the size of the target goals (or gates).Encourage the goalkeeper to use their weaker foot.Test the goalkeeper with various passes from the coaches.PHYSICAL LOAD: Adjust area sizes based on physical outcomes. Use larger areas for high sprints/distances and smaller areas for accelerations/decelerations.SOLUTIONSIN POSSESSIONSCAN - See the ball, the danger and the next moveSUPPORT - Shift and support below the ballSUPPLY - Make the next pass playableOUT OF POSSESSIONPROTECT - Decision to protect the space, the area or the goal on transitionPOSITION - Shift to position in line with the ballPREVENT - Use the correct action to prevent the ball from going in the goalCOACHES TIP “Constantly support below the ball.”
