LOW PRESS | FOUNDATION | SKILL PRACTICE | 10 PLAYERS

STRUCTUREArea sizes: Large 40x20 | Medium 30x15 | Small 20x10. Arrange the pitch as shown in the video. Create a central zone and place two (2) small goals at one end of the pitch and one (1) large goal at the opposite end.The practice requires ten (10) outfield players and one (1) goalkeeper. Divide the teams equally.The practice starts and restarts with the coach, who plays the first pass into the white team.The white team are locked into their area. They can dribble the ball across the central area but must return to their area. The blue team is locked into the central zone while the white team is in possession. Once the blue team wins possession, they can move into any area. If the ball is passed through the central zone, they can recover to prevent the two attacking players from scoring.The white team aims to pass or dribble the ball across the central zone for one (1) point.The blue team aims to prevent the white team from passing or dribbling across the central zone for one (1) point and gain an extra point if they can score a small goal.STRESSESEncourage the white team to move the ball quickly.Place a time limit on the blue team from scoring in a small goal when winning possession.Increase the width of the pitch.PHYSICAL LOAD: Adjust area sizes based on physical outcomes. Use larger areas for high sprints/distances and smaller areas for accelerations/decelerations.SOLUTIONSINDIVIDUALSCAN - Try to see the ball, team-mate and the dangerSHIFT - Try to shift across the pitch quickly and prevent the pass from reaching the opposite side.SECURE - Try to secure possession by intercepting the ballCOACHES TIP “Shift quickly and work together to close the space to pass through.”
